8 Small Things You Can Do To Improve You Lifestyle

Don and I made a pact earlier this to improve our lives. No more bad eating habits, more exercising and overall improving our lives. We fell off the bandwagon months back and have been struggling to get back on the healthy route. I am feeling sluggish and heavy. So, I am looking forward to some changes in my lifestyle. Changes that aren’t so massive, but easy to get on.

01 Do yoga once a week
I am going to start yoga once a week then slowly increase it according to my workload and futsal schedule. I think yoga is one of the easiest ways for me to build up my core muscles.

02 Drink one extra glass of water a day
Last month, I fell sick because I was dehydrated. Since then, I have been drinking water like a horse. I have noticed a huge difference in my skin, energy and overall well-being. Even though I know I have been drinking a lot but it’s still not enough. I want to make it a point to drink that extra glass of water every day, just to make myself feel better.

03 Do a plank for 60 seconds every day and stay longer as I get stronger
My goal this year is to strengthen my core muscles. I don’t think it’ll be too hard to dedicate one minute of my time a day to work on my planks. I’ve started doing this and boy… it’s not easy!

04 Use an alarm clock instead of my phone
I am so attached to my phone that I want to be away from it whenever I can. I want to slowly depend on my phone less. This starts with an alarm clock. I hate and love that smartphones give you the option of snoozing. I am one of those will snooze 3-4 times before getting up. Alarm clocks don’t give you that option!

05 Meal prep to skip eating out
I eat out so many nights a week and it’s starting to take a toll on my $$$ AND weight! I am only eating out during weekends and start prepping my meals for the week.

06 Save my single dollar bill in a piggy bank
Every night when I am prepping for the next day, I am going to take all my single dollar bills and put them away in a piggy bank. If I am able to save RM1-3 dollars a day x 7 = 21. RM21 x 4 = 84. RM84 x 52 (weeks) = 4368. I am able to save RM4000 ish a year! Something is better than nothing.

07 Cut down coffee to 3 times a week
Sigh, this is going to be tough, but I can do it! Caffeine really affects me, if I have too much I’ll have trouble sleeping, stomachaches and anxiousness. It’s an addiction I am trying to cut off.

08 Wear sunscreen every day no matter what
After a couple of weeks in Perth and being out in the sun. The sun is a deadly thing to your skin! Even though I wear sunscreen every day as it is (I do have my lazy days) I could feel my skin tingly and tight from being in the sun for more than 5 minutes. Even when we are indoors, we are exposed to UV rays from our TV, laptops and phone. Wear sunscreen every day!

    • Hey, that’s a really good tip! I am going to try that. I know green tea is really good for you and helps with weight loss as well.

  • Drinking water is a hard one for me. Trying to drink at least one glass before bed. and the coffee!! I had no other choice but to cut down because of my anxiety so I’ll only have it once in the morning =(

    • same, thats why i want to cut off coffee. I get bad anxiety cause of it. If i do need coffee, i would drink it before 10. Thanks for nominating me!

  • My first alarm rings at 5:15 am and I don’t wake up until an hour later, so I’m such a snoozer. I need an actual alarm too. I really want to drink more water and give yoga a shot, too bad I’m not very bendy so I’m not sure how that will go. I love this list, and your blog!

    I think these are great! I could definitely do with these too. My favourite is the yoga once a week – I tried (and failed) to do yoga every day but it was all too much too soon I think. Once a week sounds perfect! Good luck with everything, and have a brilliant 2016 πŸ™‚
